Lemon Flavored Potpourri
The first two recipes feature lemon-scented herbs. Lemon balm adds texture and bulk in dried form, but most of the scent is lost when the leaves are dried. The lemon lavender potpourri is a favorite for making sachets to put in drawers and linen closets.
Note: The preceding recipes call for dried herbs. Hang dry small bunches of herbs in a room with good ventilation, out of direct sunlight. Lemon peel can be dried on a paper plate
Scent the room with a spicy fragrance!
Spicy Kettle Potpourri
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp. cloves, whole
1 tsp. cinnamon powder
1 Tbsp. allspice berries
1 Tbsp. nutmeg, ground
3 cinnamon sticks, broken up
Mix all ingredients together in a jar. Add 1 teaspoon of mixture to a quart of boiling water in a kettle on the stove. Turn to low heat. The simmering spices will scent the room. Note: Add more water as needed.
